Right-wing culture wars fell flat at the ballot box this year -- in urban, suburban, and rural communities across both red states and blue states. Over and over, voters rewarded candidates who delivered for public school students and who articulated a clear, positive and constructive vision for public education.
- Kentucky delivered a resounding victory for Governor Andy Beshear and Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman, rewarding their efforts to strengthen public schools. Voters rejected Beshear's opponent, Daniel Cameron, who ran his campaign around right-wing culture wars and vouchers.
- Virginia sent a clear message by electing pro-public education majorities in the General Assembly. Voters across the commonwealth demanded an end to the right-wing attacks on public schools, book bans, and censoring history.
- In school board elections across the country, pro-public education candidates won more than 80 percent of the races they ran in.
